218 Madras Street, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch
By Car
One NZ Stadium is surrounded by 4 main roads, two of which are one way only. Madras Street is a one-way street heading North and Barbadoes is a one-way heading South.
There is no onsite parking at the Stadium, however there are several public car parks nearby. Check out our Accessibility section for details about accessible parking at the Stadium.
With large capacity events at the Stadium congestion in the surrounding streets and carparks will be high particularly after the event, so we recommend using public transport or Taxi and ride share options.
Pedestrians
There are pedestrian walkways throughout the Stadium precinct joining to all streets. The main entrances to One NZ Stadium are via Barbadoes Street and Tuam Street but there are also entrances off Madras and Hereford Street.
By Bus
One New Zealand Stadium is just 500m from the Christchurch Bus Interchange.
Metro will be running pre-booked event shuttles to help eventgoers get to One New Zealand Stadium. The shuttles are a managed service that you will be able to book online prior to the event, taking you from 11 different pick-up areas within Christchurch, to Latimer Square and Ara on Ferry Road, both just a short walk away from the stadium.
Regular Metro services will operate under normal timetables, and for large events, routes servicing the interchange may experience over demand, particularly post-event. As these services continue to support everyday travel across the city, customers attending major events are encouraged to consider pre-booking their space on the event shuttle for a direct and guaranteed journey.
Head to Metro’s website for more details.
By Bike
Cycling is an easy and convenient way to get to One NZ stadium, with separated cycle lanes along Tuam Street, which lead directly to the lower south gates.
Limited bike parking is available on Madras Street near the West Plaza entrance (See the interactive venue map above), with additional bike parking located throughout the city - just a short walk away. We recommend using a secure lock type, like a D-lock or hardened-steel chain, and locking around your bike frame and rear wheel to a proper bike stand.
For route planning, use the interactive venue map, or use the Transit app (available on Apple and Android), which is great for navigating the city by bike. You can also check the Christchurch City Council Bike Map for information on dedicated cycleways and bike parking.
Taxi & rideshare
Taxis and rideshare vehicles are able to use the designated drop off zone on Lichfield St from Fitzgerald Ave.
By Scooter
Riding:
When utilising an e-scooters, slow down near other vehicles, people and when riding past main throughfares. Give way to people on foot, pass slowly and ride with courtesy. Ride single as it is unsafe taking passengers on scooters.
Parking:
Please ensure e-scooters are parked away from main throughfares for the safety of all guests. There are dedicated parking zones for both shared and private e-scooters on Cashel St and at Latimer Square.
On event days, scooters cannot be taken inside the Tuam St, Madras St, Hereford St and Barbadoes St perimeter.
If you have a private e-scooter that you need to park and lock, we suggest locking them to the bike stands, as e-scooters are not permitted inside.
Check for Updates
If you are coming to a ticketed event, keep an eye on the specific event page as this is where you find the most up-to-date information – or check out the below, for help to find your way.
Plan Ahead
Traffic congestion can be heavy, especially during peak times so always allow more time than you expect to get to and from the venue – aiming to arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the event.
